I’ve been looking into going mostly raw for a while now. Since I started creating green smoothies for breakfast my enthusiasm has grown tenfold (seriously, they taste so good!). The more I learn about the raw vegan lifestyle, the more it makes sense. It’s just so natural.
After reading through tonnes of reviews of various raw vegan guides/recipe books on Amazon, I eventually decided to go for these two. They arrived a little while ago, and I’ve only just stopped squeaking with delight ;)
Live Raw (by Mimi Kirk): Very bright and colourful. The author is positive and motivational and writes with a great deal of conviction about all aspects of compassionate living, not just food. A chunky book packed with all kinds of recipes: condiments; salads; smoothies; crackers; ice cream; soups; and a lot more.
Going Raw (by Judita Wignall): Again, bright and colourful (and also very well written). Begins with a very useful section on raw food groups and basic staples; and clear step-by-step guides for preparing different foods (including how to sprout seeds etc.). The rest of the book contains a fantastic selection of recipes with vibrant photographs, from smoothies to crepes. Also includes a DVD with video tutorials of several raw-food techniques.
